12 Reflection Questions for Aged Care Providers

The aged care sector continues to evolve, and the Australian Government has confirmed that the new Aged Care Act will now commence on 1 November 2025- a short deferral from the originally planned July start.

This change follows feedback from aged care providers, workers, and older Australians, and was formally announced by The Hon Sam Rae MP, the new Minister for Aged Care and Seniors. In his message to the sector, Minister Rae acknowledged the need for more time to:

  • Prepare older people for changes
  • Support workers through training and transition
  • Finalise operational, digital, and regulatory frameworks

He reassured providers that this brief delay will ensure safe, high-quality care during the transition and allow Parliament to finalise critical elements of the new Aged Care Rules
